Bonus Block:Selvedge Label for Please Rewind

Please Rewind just released! It’s a fun quilt full of blocks made to look like old videos.

The pattern instructions include a solid label but you can also use up some fun selvedges to make VHS tape blocks with titles on them!

Here’s how:

The pieces used for this are oversized so that they can be trimmed to pattern size. This is important because selvedges come in so many different widths. The photos use a wide style of selvedge but the very skinny ones can be used as well as long as the text has at least 1/4” below it.

Center whatever part of the selvedge you want in your label! Try to have 1” on both the left and the right to account for both of the trimming and the 1/4” seams when this piece is sewn into the pattern.

Once you’ve sewn the fabric to either side of the selvedge, trim the block down to 4.5” tall and 6.5” wide.

This piece can now be used in your quilt blocks!

Starting Nov. 1st, I’m making a Christmas themed Please Rewind wall hanging. I’ll be featuring the blocks here on the blog as well as Pinterest. Time to search the stash for some Hallmark movie title style selvedges!

Please Rewind is available now in the shop.
